Theatre made me a confident and engaging public speaker.
I've acted in two shows and an open mic night (see video). This helped me discover and overcome a fear of public speaking. Today, I draw energy from crowds big and small.Â
A fundraising timeline I made inspired by Minard's pioneering infographic on Napoleon's disastrous Russian campaign. Green top = cash in; gold bottom = TAMU recognition out. Guess who we were pitching to...
I want function and form.
I relish the opportunity to make a good diagram. Words are dull and draining to read. Pictures can be better, but sometimes they could use extra context. Diagrams combine the best of both worlds. To adopt a quote from Game of Thrones,
Diagrams are the true steel. Text is pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but boring, the way iron gets...And pictures...they're copper, bright and shiny, pretty to look at but not worth all that much at the end of the day.
